Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal – Young &dynamic ready to move forward
The celebrity film maker and director Perkash Jha must have felt shock when he would have seen the result of the Paschim Champaran Constituency in the 16th Lok Sabha elections of 2014. He had remained third time unlucky and was defeated for the second times by the BJP candidate Sanjay Jaiswal by a margin of over 1.1 lakh votes. At least this time, Prakash Jha was very hopeful of his success in spite of a nation-wide Narendra Modi wave. Earlier in 2009, Sanjay Jaiswal had defeated him in the 15th Lok Sabha Election by around 47000 votes.
The West Champaran, famous for the revolt of Indigo farmers and Mahatma Gamdhi’s Satyagraha movement against the British rule, has always witnessed high pitched electoral campaign full of glamour and high voltage drama. It was mainly because of the presence of a famous film producer like Prakash Jha as one of the contestant for the seat. In order to show their solidarity and provide him full support in the electoral campaign, an array of film personalities had been descending here for the last three elections. When Jha collected his bandwagon from the film world, how can the opposing candidate be left behind in this race. The BJP candidate Sanjay Jaiswal, too, had the company of the famous Bollywood actor and BJP leader Hema Malini to address election rallies there.
By all account, Dr Sanjay Jaiswal is considered as quite a popular BJP leader in the area with a sizable mass support base. He is also a good law maker, who actively fulfills his duty as a Member of Parliament and regularly participates in different debates and discussions. Recently he tried on his level to get Bettiah added in the list of “100 smartl cities” proposed by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. He even sent a letter to the PM to this effect and got a favourable reply from him.
For Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, the West Champaran constituency has virtually become a family bastion. Saving a period of 2004-2009 when Raghunath Jha had won from this constituency on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) ticket, ever since 1996 it has been in the control of his family. He himself has been a MP here since 2009. Earlier, his late father,  Dr. Madan Prasad Jaiswal, who was a senior BJP leader, had won three consecutive 11th, 12th, and 13th Lok Sabha Elections in the year 1996, 1998 and 1999 respectively.
Dr. Jaiswal holds great promises as a young dynamic leader in the Bhartiya Janta Party. His performance as an MP in this constituency will matter a lot for the BJP candidates of this area in the forthcoming assembly elections, which is scheduled to be held in the month of November this year.
